So my HOA has gotten a lot of complaints about how dark our parking area is at night

They caved to the pressure and installed motion sensing street lamps. There’s a catch though. *car model I didn’t know existed for your time,*

The lights are quite bright, and they stay on all the time (hmmm), but when even one light detects motion in the vicinity, every single street lamp turns off and stay off for about 5 minutes. Yep. Lights that TURN OFF when they sense motion. I would find this hilarious if I wasn’t paying for it.

I’d like to think that this is just an epic troll job, but realistically it’s just the usual brand of ineptitude and contracting out to the lowest—often unlicensed—bidder. Blah. I’m guessing 4 months until the problem gets fixed.

*You_had_one_job.gif*

Oh and if you’re wondering, I’m going to check out the Volvo 850 Wagon Saturday morning. This dude sounds like a good seller. I’m pumped

In general, lights turning on and off during the night would bother me a lot more than either having them or not . I guess blackout curtains would solve that problem.

Your posts about your HOA (that one with the suspect masonry work comes to mind) activates my triggers. They took your parking spot... That was the worst!

I actually got my spot back! Only took 6 weeks, and more money to have the numbers repainted, and hey... Pretty sure the seal coat already looks just as bad as it did previously...

The masonry one though. Oh man. That irritates me so much. 7 months later, still looks like a mockup an apprentice did on his first day, while following an instruction sheet penned by a drunk do ctor and photocopied 13 times.

Agreed. I used to have blackout curtains, but tossed them when I remodeled my bedroom. Now I’ve got those honeycomb blinds that let in a ton of natural light. They’re great during the day, awful at night. If a cop turns his lights on two blocks away in the middle of the night , somehow that light makes it all the way to my shade and I get a retina-searing light show.

I miss my blackout curtains....

My bedroom has billions of windows and we finally sprang for blackout curtains last month. 100/10, would buy more.

I’ve got those light filtering type shades in my room, too. I like them, but the light outside is pretty constant.

*gets stuck in traffic until time ends*

I need to rebuild my bedroom window casing. And replace the panes but that’s tricky to do with the HOA... Speaking  of those shades, Hardwired blackout shades built into the exterior frames is one of the few things from Fancy Homes© that I wouldn’t mind having.

I mean, if I ever built an S10 minitruck I’d  put the Bravada front clip on it.

Friend of mine bought property in Eastern Washington recently. In the middle of nowhere, with zero hookups of any kind. P ut up this little shed thing and has been driving across the mountains and staying there every weekend.

There are times when getting off the grid and away from people sounds pretty nice

oh that’s cool. It’s funny to see what city folk consider remote or living off the grid. When I was a child we didn’t have electricity to our cabin until I was 12 years old nor indoor plumbing. The outhouse is still there even if it’s not used anymore. My moms internet is Terrible as well.

Wait, you didn’t know the Bravada existed?

Oppo is a weird place. Everyone here knows what a Twingo is, yet the Bravada went unnoticed to one of us. Weird wild stuff!

Anyways, that lighting stuff would infuriate me.

Does the family still have the cabin?

Haha yeah it’s all relative. It’s strange having worked for billionaires, lived in a wealthy area, slowly improved my own financial situation to a somewhat comfortable position ...

I barely even r emember family being homeless, having to “camp ” in the woods as a kid, no food for school, getting deep into the metal scene and seeing meth tear through the community.. . Nowadays I do home renovations and complain loudly and frequently if Amazon doesn’t get me a package within a day. I’ve lost my toughness and gone soft *sigh*

In another crazy turn, there was also a first gen Bravada.

Kinja'd!!!

And a third gen to boot, that lasted until the end of Oldsmobile. Not only that, it was the last new Oldsmobile model . They’re all just as bizarre looking, and it’s shocking any of them actually sold.

What’s the rule/law psychology thing that says once you initially notice something, you realize it’s everywhere?

So strange. Twas the same for me with FJ Cruisers. Spent a week counting every FJC and every Tesla model S to compare numbers a few years ago and ever since then I realized FJ Cruisers are absolutely everywhere.

Yup. S10 blazer, then the T railblazer. It was the “up market” version I guess. Although it almost didn’t make sense by the end of the run, given you could get the GMC Jimmy (eventually Envoy)  with every option that came on the Olds.

I literally have everything to make a 4x4 V8 S10 1st Gen minus the truck. I had the truck but gave up for the lame  ass excuse of it got cold in the garage and made me lose motivation. Also it was a rusty truck. I still feel bad for not completing it.

I always have to chime in whenever I see a comment about a Bravada. Not only did I used to own a Bravada that I lowered a couple inches with Camaro wheels, I also used to have a S10 with a Bravada front clip installed... But I have a weird sense of style.
